Kayakalpa Yoga

 Kayakalpa Yoga Mudra comprises three parts.
  • Aswini Mudra
  • Moola Bandha
  • Ojas breathing.


Aswini Mudra 

Both the word comes from Sanskrit. So ‘Ashwa’ means horse in Sanskrit, and ‘Mudra’ means pose. It’s an easy beginner’s job, and it helps in toning the nerves.


How many Ashwini mudras are done while doing Kayakalpa?

There are 10 Ashwini mudras in Kayakalpa yoga. Ashwini mudra can tone up the nerves. It’s done to keep the anal sphincter muscle strong and healthy.

Moola Bandha

Moola Bandha is a contraction of the anal muscles. The word banda means ‘tied’ or ‘locked’ in locking the muscles in the perineum. Banda also means ‘redirecting.’ In this Yoga, you unlock the energy in the physical body and lock the perineum muscles.

It is believed that moola bandha, this yoga active 72000 “Nadis,” makes it very strong. In the Upanishads and The Siva Samhita, we reference the moola bandha, and it says it is the best yoga practice.

According to Vethathiri Maharshi’s Kayakalpa Yoga, the perineum contracts, and the Apana air moving downwards is forced to go upwards, which is moola bandha. By practicing Moola Bandha life, vitality increases, Apana, Naad, Bindu become one. The vital energy spreads throughout the body.

Moola bandha is affected by the myocardium and helps release the sensitive conflicts accumulated in the peroneal and pelvic floor muscles.



Ojus Breath

The Sanskrit word Ojas means vigour, the strength of the body, water, and vitality, responsible for immunity.The most important thing is it activates Sahasrara Charka, known as the crown and the pineal gland. Ojus breath helps in raising vital force from the seed center to the brain center, The Ojus Breath is a vital manoeuvre, consisting of an inspiration and expiration with Moola Bandha (persistent contraction of the anal sphincter including pelvic floor). During inspiration technique, the Ojus energy separated by Aswini Mudra, is aspirated and directed to the brain and during the expiration technique, the Ojus energy is spread to the entire body. Thus the manoeuvre of Ojus breath charges the brain and the entire body with Ojus; a form of bio-magnetism. The Ojus energy primed by Aswini Mudra is lifted up to the brain by the inspiration with two locking procedures. The lower one is Moola Bandha and the upper lock is similar to Jalandara bandha. The tongue is thrown backwards and upwards to reach the soft pallet, if possible to press the uvula. Creating a pressure in this part of the soft pallet near uvula, stimulating contraction of the nasopharynx, to functionally block the upper air passage. The Ojus energy in the akash element travels much longer to reach the brain in the skull. The physical bodily manoeuvres of Ojus breath and intent devoted thought and mind force successfully completes the procedure of spreading the Ojus energy throughout the body. Thus Kayakalpa converts the seventh thathoo (Sexual-Vital-Fluid), stationed in and around the Genetic Centre to bio-magnetic energy through Ojus energy.
